Why a useful RAG system should sometimes refuse to answer
Source-grounded answers are only useful when the system can also recognize when the source documents do not support a confident answer.
A knowledge assistant becomes risky when it sounds certain even though the source documents do not support the answer.
In the KAISEI GLOBAL RAG demo, the core behavior is simple: retrieve relevant material, show the source, and avoid forcing an answer when the evidence is missing.
Three things I test first
Does retrieval find the right passage?
Does the answer stay connected to that passage?
Does the assistant become cautious when the source is weak?
